Like so many others Michaela Kelly found herself attending her first TTT Runners training session as cross training for another sport. Kieron Lynch dragged Michaela along to a session in late 2020, and it seems she hasn't missed a session since. In 2020 Michaela was training to complete a half marathon, she is now working diligently towards trying to break the ninety minute barrier for the half-marathon distance. Michaela is well on her way to this goal having run 1:36:46 at the Taupo Half-Marathon. Michaela speaks about the mental component of training and racing - the battle in the mind and the ability to take control and constantly better what was seemingly impossible. Her journey with TTT Runners and James Kuegler Coaching has ingrained in her a mindset of “no limits”. That there really is no limit in what you are capable of and that every benchmark continues to be broken with the right mindframe. This sense of empowerment is what motivates and excites Michaela to keep running.
In her near two year journey Michaela has had with TTT she has shattered her goal in the Taupo Half Marathon as well as taking a few wins in Run Auckland series races. In the foreseeable future Michaela hopes to break twenty minutes for five kilometres as well as the previously mentioned ninety minute half marathon. In the longer term though it is again about seeing what is possible, breaking those barriers and continuing to see what she can do.
Aside from making comments about James Kuegler's strict protocol on sock height. Michaela had the following to say about TTT: “It's awesome being part of a really cool club, it is like a family, and there is a real sense of camaraderie. There's a lot of support and encouragement from everyone and it feels like we all have each other's back. So that plus the huge fitness gains from going to regular sessions and having the feedback help to achieve more.” She also made comments about the ‘highly entertaining’ end of session banter with the entire TTT family.
