Siobhan Balle is one of the younger athletes under the James Kuegler Coaching and TTT Runners umbrella. She has been racing under James Kuegler’s guidance for many years and was a part of the foundations of TTT. More recently Siobhan has taken up a track scholarship which has landed her at Jacksonville State University in Alabama, USA. Alongside this huge achievement, Siobhan has several top 10 national placings under her belt, with one podium as well as being named in the New Zealand Secondary Schools cross country paper team. Siobhan attributes a large part of this success to James and hopes to return to New Zealand in the coming years to continue her partnership with James Kuegler Coaching and TTT Runners.
Siobhan has been a regular attendee at TTT sessions, here is Siobhan's words on why: “Being a JK athlete meant that when TTT Runners started up I was by proxy a part of the group, however, what keeps me coming back is the sense of family and community that James, Lisa and the other coaches have fostered since its beginning. At TTT I am a part of 'a family who love to run' - true to its motto.” Siobhan believes the value in TTT comes from the sense of community that it hosts, promoting growth and development in all aspects of running. Siobhan notably mentions that thrill that she gets when she runs past the TTT tent while on the race course and hears a burst of cheers from under the tent.
Siobhan's favourite Thursday session is the one minute reps, and on Tuesday she loves the Moneghetti Fartlek session. She mentions she enjoys being able to pace herself in these sessions with no set rep time to meet, and working on speed on trails helps her to gain speed for both cross country and track. Sessions that she can hold responsible for part of her success as she continues her running career in the United States.
It is bitter sweet for all of the TTT family to see Siobhan off on the next step of her running journey, although we are all incredibly proud of her success and look forward to following her running career from a distance.
